There was a lot of buzz during the latter half of February about the successor to the original realme Book. The company had decided to follow up their valiant first effort at a laptop with a second iteration, mainly to improve its predecessor’s shortcomings. Say hello to the realme Book Prime, an MWC announcement that is no surprise to anyone at this point.
Just in case you were wondering, the Prime in its name means that it’s going to be offered at a slightly higher price point in exchange for the improved build. We’ll delve more into the price later.
It comes with a thin and light philosophy behind its construction. The 14.2-inch 2K FullVision display ensures that bezels are minimized, making for a more immersive experience. As with the trend in these kinds of laptops, the aspect ratio is stretched out to a 3:2 configuration. We would normally be impressed by all this, but this is the exact frame used in the original realme Book as well. Externally, the main difference between the Prime and original models is the new color: you can now have this laptop in a Real Green shade. It’s still a looker in any color though.
On the inside, the realme Book Prime was announced at MWC to have the Intel Core i5-11320H as we predicted. It’s a chipset designed for ultraportable gaming and productivity devices so we’re expecting to see some oomph out of it. Graphics are handled by the onboard Iris Xe chip, while 16GB of RAM takes command of the multitasking.
The last realme Book also had some adequate power, but suffered from thermal issues due to its compact size. In the Prime, realme has added both liquid cooling and a dual-fan system to address this issue. Hopefully, we see temperatures stay within the earth’s orbit even during the most intensive of tasks.
Other notable specifications are the backlit trackpad, DTS stereo sound, WiFi 6, and other items that are either directly carried over or slight improvements over the ones found in the first-generation realme Book.
realme Book Prime Price
The previous realme Book was priced at Php 47,990 although many outlets saw its price fall to the low 30’s or even upper 20’s. With the Prime, the price is bumped up to €999 (Php 57,342) for the 8/512GB variant while the 16/512GB model will set you back a hefty €1,099 (Php 63,082).
You can look out for the releases on realme’s official Shopee and Lazada stores.
