According to Jennifer Sey, she was told by her superiors to not engage her views on Covid-19 restrictions to the public. Levi’s marketing head has resigned from the company after she was told to not speak against the Covid-19 restrictions and lockdowns. Jennifer released this information in an official statement to the world and said she is not going to regret her decision.
Who is Jennifer Sey?
Jennifer Sey is a former gymnast from the United States. Sey was born and schooled in New Jersey and earned a political science degree from Stanford University in 1992. She lived in San Francisco for a considerable time before moving to Denver, Colorado, with her spouse and four children during the Covid-19 epidemic. Sey went into business after finishing her career as a gymnast. In the past year since Coronavirus started, Jennifer Sey has garnered a lot of popularity and following for working as an activist helping people.
Why did Jennifer Sey quit?
Jennifer Sey had been vocal about her disdain for the way people had to compromise with their professional and personal life due to the unnecessary restrictions imposed by the government, in her own words. Sey wrote that this activism was done as her right as an individual and free citizen. Sey wrote in an article released on Monday that she had been “condemned for speaking out” and also that Levi Strauss management advised her to keep her general opinion about this situation to a minimum. She claimed that at a recent discussion with the company’s CEO, Chip Bergh, she was advised to quit and that her staying would be problematic for the company. Sey wrote in her essay and official statement, “I felt—and still do—that the draconian policies would cause the most harm to those least at risk, and the burden would fall heaviest on disadvantaged kids in public schools, who need the safety and routine of school the most.”
Sey also revealed that Chip Bergh, the company’s CEO, tried to offer her a $1 million severance package if she signed a confidentiality agreement. She rejected, though, and gave the reasoning being that she would rather keep her voice.
More than 20 years ago I joined Levi’s. Yesterday I resigned my post as president so that I can use my voice. https://t.co/7UG6TCXqHU
