Who was Justin Hardy? and what was the cause of his death?
Early Sunday morning, the basketball player passed away. His father, Bob Hardy, confirmed the news of his death. Basketball player Justin Hardy’s fans and friends are grieving his death.
“Justin went quietly early this morning, Sunday, May 29th, after 13 months of valiantly redefining what it means to live with cancer,” his father, Bob Hardy, revealed in a tweet.
After getting sick, he was rushed to the hospital, where he was diagnosed with stage 4 stomach cancer last summer.
Even though he was undergoing therapy, the young basketball player continued to play for his school’s team. His medical costs were covered by a GoFundMe campaign he put up last year. Hardy’s remarkable tale was also featured on College Game Day previously this year. Hardy expressed his love for the sport, despite his health problems.
“he explained, “This is me going about my business, no matter what. I’m not sure what more to say if this isn’t beating it.”
In the aftermath of his passing, Hardy’s family requested that people wishing to pay their condolences donate to the #HardyStrong GoFundMe instead of sending flowers.
“The monies will be utilised for medical and memorial expenditures, with the bulk going to the HardyStrong Scholarship, which is a fund for high school graduates competing in college athletics who share Justin’s gift, tenacity, and all-around brilliance,” said the foundation.
After a long fight of 13-month with stomach cancer, Justin Hardy inspired players and rivals everywhere during the basketball matches.
Hardy earned the Perry Wallace Largest Heroic Trophy from the United States Basketball Writers Association during the NCAA Final Four in New Orleans.
In his concession speech, Hardy remarked, “I don’t go two or three minutes without thinking about the reality that this is my life and something that will live with me forever.” “However, I have plenty to be thankful for, and I can’t let all of that negativity to fill my thoughts.”
“If you approach life with optimism, everything will turn out OK.” That was something I took to heart, and I believe it was one of the reasons I was able to accomplish so much. We’re over a year later, and I’m still not sure if I’ll be able to do all that seems vital.”
