Her times in the sprints were both world under-20 records for her age group. Her NCAA performance, which included a second-place finish in the 4 x 100 m relay, was the second-best by a female sprinter in history, trailing only Merlene Ottey.

Following the NCAA victory, she made the decision to forego her remaining collegiate eligibility after the first year and sign a professional contract, which was confirmed four days later.

It is via Nike that she is sponsored and trains with former Olympic sprinter Dennis Mitchell.

She accepted the suspension after finishing the program satisfactorily. While Richardson was ineligible for the Olympic 100 meters because of a suspension that will finish on July 27, 2021, she might have competed in the Women’s 4 x 100 relay on August 5, 2021, which is scheduled to take place on the same day. After receiving criticism, USADA replied by emphasizing that, as a signatory to the World Anti-Doping Code, it is under an obligation to enforce it in the United States. Despite the fact that cannabis has been illegal for Olympic athletes to use since 1999, the World Anti-Doping Agency raised the amount of THC metabolite that can be used by increasing the allowable concentration from 15ng/mL to 150ng/mL in 2013.
